A qualidade da água em afluentes de reservatórios de água para abastecimento público deve ser monitorada com atenção especial. Os Índices de Qualidade da Água são ferramentas utilizadas para esse fim, e reconhecidas por serem confiáveis, acessíveis e fornecerem informações importantes aos gestores. Este estudo visou verificar a qualidade da água dos afluentes do ribeirão João Leite, a montante do reservatório, por meio de uma análise espaço-temporal, buscando verificar a influência da sazonalidade no comportamento dos parâmetros físico-químicos e bacteriológicos. Foi aplicado o índice proposto pelo Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (IQAC) o qual possibilita a utilização dos valores máximos permitidos pela legislação pertinente. Foram avaliados dez mananciais afluentes do ribeirão João Leite à montante do reservatório de abastecimento público do município de Goiânia, além de três trechos do referido curso d’água. Foram obtidos 26 IQAC, destes 34,61% foram classificados como Excelentes, 38,46% como Bons, 3,84% Regulares e 23,1% Ruins. Dentre as 68 amostras analisadas, 48 (70,58%) delas apresentaram um ou mais parâmetros fora do limite estabelecido pela legislação, sendo que os parâmetros coliformes termotolerantes (72,91%), seguidos de turbidez (14,58%), oxigênio dissolvido (10,41%) e DBO (2,1%) foram os que mais contribuíram para a redução do IQAC. O IQAC mostrou-se eficiente para avaliação da qualidade da água em diferentes pontos de uma bacia hidrográfica. A análise realizada poderá subsidiar ações de gestão das áreas à montante do reservatório João Leite, com especial atenção ao saneamento básico nas áreas urbana e rural que compõem a área estudada.
