Abstract
Fondé sur un corpus de journaux francophones louisianais pendant la Guerre civile américaine, cet article aborde le rôle joué par la presse dans le projet national confédéré au travers des émotions qu’elle mobilise. Dans un territoire en voie d’américanisation mais encore fortement soumis à l’influence médiatique européenne, les journaux francophones mettent en avant des affects enthousiastes envers le nouvel état sudiste tout en jouant un rôle émotionnel prescriptif important. Si la réception et l’intériorisation de ces émotions par le lectorat reste à mesurer, ces titres de presse illustrent une tentative de formation d’une communauté émotionnelle au service d’un projet politique.
