Abstract
A tanulmány azokra a 20. századi magyar származású könyvtárosokra irányítja rá a figyelmet, akik munkásságukat az anyaország határain túl fejtették ki. Jelen közlemény Amerikára, Nyugat-Európára és Ausztráliára helyezi a hangsúlyt. A szakemberek közül többen valamilyen politikai okból (jellemzően a második világháború, illetve az 1956-os forradalom folyományaként) vagy pusztán kalandvágyból mentek külföldre. Rendszerint az irodalomtudományhoz vagy a történelemhez kapcsolódó eredeti hivatásuk mellett kezdtek el könyvtárakban, információs intézményekben dolgozni, vagy könyvtáros végzettséggel rendelkeztek. Számos szakember felsőoktatási könyvtár munkatársa volt, ezáltal lehetősége nyílt az egyetemi oktatásban és kutatásban is szerepet vállalni. A dolgozat hagyományos és elektronikus tartalmakat is kutatott: életrajzi lexikonokat, monográfiákat, adatbázisokat, névtereket, filmeket, de szükség esetén egyéb elemeket is. A vizsgálat kiterjedt a szakmai díjakra, a betöltött vezetői tisztségekre, a megvalósult projektekre és jó gyakorlatokra, a hungarológiával összefüggő kutatásokra, a tudományos publikációkra is. Az összeállítás hiánypótló jellegű, a témakörben hasonló még nem készült.
