Abstract

Dans cet article, nous explorons les perceptions des nouveaux arrivants sur les obstacles et supports d’intégration en lien avec l’identité culturelle, les marqueurs sociolinguistiques minoritaires et les frontières identitaires instituées par la société eurocanadienne. Nous convoquons une combinaison de théories, en l’occurrence le multiculturalisme critique et l’approche de la délimitation différentielle des identités nationales, car elles sont pertinentes pour expliquer et analyser la persistance des inégalités des parcours migratoires en fonction des degrés d’altérisation des immigrants par la société eurocanadienne. À l’aide d’une approche qualitative comprenant des entrevues semi-dirigées auprès de 42 participants, nous analysons et interprétons les processus simultanés d’intégration de certaines catégories d’immigrants au sein de la fabrique sociale canadienne et d’exclusion et de relégation d’autres catégories à sa périphérie.
