Increasing environmental consciousness and strict regulatory requirements have prompted numerous businesses and industries to pursue viable wastewater treatment technologies. Owing to their effectiveness and simplicity, coagulation, flocculation, and floatation are some of the most important and widely used processes for treating industrial wastewater. Heavy metals are the usual toxic species among toxic inorganic pollutants. This chapter gives information on coagulation-flocculation and post-treatment floatation for removing HMs. The limitations and challenges of coagulation-flocculation and floatation are discussed, including inorganic coagulants’ toxicity and health risk, large-scale hazardous sludge generation, ineffective removal of new pollutants and heavy metals, a rise in effluent color, the difficulty of scaling up the process as well as the ineffectiveness of removing pollutants using natural coagulants.
