PDF | O presente trabalho apresenta o desenvolvimento de uma escória sintética para o refino secundário do aço CA50R no forno panela da Belgo - Arcelor Brasil, Usina de Piracicaba. A escória sintética Vamflux BP, fabricada pela Vamtec, foi formulada para desoxidar a escória passante no vazamento, dessulfurar o aço, minimizar o desgaste do refratário da panela, diminuir o número de adições de materiais no forno panela, durante o tratamento do aço e minimizar o tempo de tratamento de refino do aço na aciaria. A escória sintética desenvolvida atingiu os objetivos para os quais foi projetada. Os resultados mostraram que com o uso do Vamflux houve maior redução do teor de enxofre do aço, melhor rendimento das ligas adicionadas e redução na quantidade de materiais adicionados no refino do aço, dentre outras vantagens. Verificou-se que a utilização de uma escória sintética bem projetada possibilita atingir ótimos resultados, facilitando o trabalho dos aciaristas e oferecendo condições para o aumento na produtividade, devido a um menor tempo de tratamento de refino do aço e menor quantidade de intervenções no processo, sendo uma prática simples e econômica para as siderúrgicas. A Vamtec possui experiência na fabricação de escórias sintéticas.
