Abstract In this introductory chapter, we illustrate the importance of transdisciplinary and justice-oriented approaches to science education. We first challenge the rigid disciplinary boundaries of the fields of science and science education, and then lay out how Volume 2 of Reimagining Science Education in the Anthropocene offers creative diversions from the disciplining structures of ideologically conservative fields.
