The Stone Cabin Formation, Nevada, USA: Geochemical and Isotopic Indicators of Magma Sources and Crustal Influence in an Eocene Caldera System
Bibliographic record
Abstract
The 35.8 Ma Stone Cabin Formation (SCF) ignimbrites and related Eocene volcanic rocks of this study are located in eastern Nevada within the Central Nevada Volcanic Field. The SCF is a part of the mid-Cenozoic, subduction-related, primarily intermediate to silicic volcanic event termed the Ignimbrite Flareup. This project aims to determine the magma source or sources of the SCF and determine the existence/extent of crustal contamination during petrogenesis using whole-rock major element, trace element, and Pb-Sr-Nd-Hf isotopic analysis. The source of SCF ignimbrites is the White River caldera southwest of Ely, NV. The caldera includes SCF intracaldera tuffs, low-Si to high-Si rhyolite lavas, and andesite lava flows. The primary magma source appears to be Precambrian mantle, with initial 87 Sr/ 86 Sr values ~ 0.709 and Nd ~ -9. The crustal component in the felsic samples has 87 Sr/ 86 Sr > 0.713 and Nd < -12, consistent with a Precambrian crustal source.

Full frame machine prediction
Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
