En contexte francophone minoritaire, les enjeux des élèves immigrants restent de taille, compte tenu du contexte sociolinguistique qui prévaut. En effet, la peur tangible de l’assimilation vers l’anglais sclérose la vision d’une francophonie plurielle et laisse peu, voire pas de place aux autres langues et cultures au sein des établissements scolaires. Pourtant, si l’on souhaite inclure et véritablement comprendre les enjeux relatifs de ces élèves, il est nécessaire de penser autrement le rapport à l’Autre afin de limiter les clivages entre les groupes. Ce « penser autrement » passe par des « agirs enseignant », des gestes professionnels qui permettent d’aborder à la fois les capitaux langagier et culturel de l’élève, tout en les amenant à développer le français de scolarisation et qui transcendent les frontières traditionnelles de la didactique des langues pour tendre vers une didactique du plurilinguisme.
