Abstract
A Conferência das Partes da Convenção sobre Diversidade Biológica (COP15), realizada no final de 2022, marcou a adoção do Quadro Global de Biodiversidade (GBF, na sigla em inglês) de Kunming-Montreal e sua principal meta de conservação baseada em área, que exige a conservação de pelo menos 30% das áreas terrestres, de águas continentais, costeiras e marinhas até 2030 (comumente chamada de 30×30). O reconhecimento das contribuições significativas dos povos indígenas e das comunidades locais para a conservação da biodiversidade foi fundamental para essa meta e para a Estrutura em geral. A adoção do GBF abriu novas oportunidades e riscos para a implementação de suas metas de área de acordo com as abordagens de conservação baseadas em direitos e lideradas pela comunidade (RBAs, na sigla em inglês). Com as negociações agora concluídas, é essencial voltar a atenção e a ação para a implantação e o monitoramento das RBAs para essas metas de área, especialmente em nível nacional. Isso também requer a construção de um maior entendimento mútuo e colaboração entre os principais grupos constituintes e organizações que possam apoiar a conservação baseada em direitos. Nesse contexto, a Rights and Resources Initiative (RRI), a Campaign for Nature (C4N), o ICCA Consortium e a Global Alliance of Territorial Communities (GATC) organizaram um workshop de um dia durante a Semana do Clima de Nova York, com o objetivo de mobilizar a colaboração e a ação em RBAs para a implantação e o monitoramento das metas 30×30.
