El siguiente artículo estudia las relaciones entre el deporte, la política y la denominada literatura de avanzada a finales de los años veinte. Lejos de una perspectiva homogénea, se observa una rica variedad de interpretaciones de los literatos contemporáneos sobre el fútbol, el boxeo, el automovilismo y otras disciplinas en boga. La instrumentalización del deporte se conjuga con el sentido humorístico y desenfadado de la vanguardia tardía española. Autores de tan dispares estilos e ideas como Francisco Ayala, Ernesto Giménez Caballero, José Ortega y Gasset o Samuel Ros, entre otros, formaron la visión politizada de uno de los mayores fenómenos sociológicos del pasado y presente siglos.
