Abstract
Abstract: This study describes an experimental procedure that was done to understand the flow behavior of a sample of flexible polyurethane foam especially made to be used in personal protective equipment. A series of experiments allow the permeability and loss coefficient of the foam to be calculated. A computational model, developed using YADE and Solidworks, mimics the intricate pathways that are seen inside the open cell polyurethane foams. A single point from the experimental results was used to calibrate the developed numerical model, and simulations of the model agree with the remaining experimental results.
