Abstract
Cet article vise à décrire l’expérience de proches en contexte de demande d’aide médicale à mourir (AMM) au Québec. Il s’appuie sur une recherche qualitative effectuée dans le cadre d’un mémoire de maîtrise en travail social. Des entrevues individuelles semi-dirigées ont été menées auprès de sept adultes endeuillés de personnes décédées après avoir demandé l’AMM. L’analyse des témoignages ainsi recueillis permet de clarifier l’influence de la transmission d’informations sur le bien-être des proches, les impacts de la Loi du Québec concernant les soins de fin de vie (LCSFV) sur ceux-ci ainsi que les enjeux relationnels liés à ce parcours éminemment émotif. La discussion des résultats met en lumière l’importance du rôle des intervenants auprès des familles et des proches tout au long du processus d’AMM. Les retombées envisagées portent sur la valorisation du suivi psychosocial en situation d’AMM et la place des proches.
