Depuis la fin des années 2000, on assiste à une augmentation des mesures de protection et de valorisation de l’art rupestre précolombien de Guadeloupe. Longtemps perçues comme des « restes encombrants », ces roches gravées ont récemment été requalifiées en héritage culturel. Ce changement de regard, mais aussi de mode de gestion, est loin d’être neutre pour les communautés qui côtoient ces vestiges au quotidien. Entre contestation et négociation, rejet et appropriation, cette étude présente les jeux de tension qui émergent de la cohabitation dans le présent avec des éléments d’un passé oublié, aujourd’hui réinvesti. À partir d’une analyse des relations choisies ou imposées que les habitants de Trois-Rivières entretiennent aux roches gravées, nous montrons comment ces dernières sont peu à peu devenues actrices de visions concurrentes de la société et du territoire.
