L’explosion des prix du gaz et de l’électricité en Allemagne ainsi que les incertitudes en termes d’approvisionnement énergétique ont gravement affecté la production de l’industrie chimique sur le sol allemand. Depuis quelques années, l’industrie chimique allemande souffre en Europe d’une surabondance de réglementations et de taxes écologiques punitives qui l’encouragent à poursuivre massivement ses investissements hors Europe. Cet article propose une évaluation des conséquences à court et à moyen terme de la crise que traverse la chimie allemande, à la fois pour l’industrie elle-même et pour l’ensemble du tissu industriel allemand. Le fort investissement des grands groupes chimiques allemands dans la transition écologique et énergétique en fait cependant un acteur clé dont la présence sur le sol allemand reste indispensable. La crise liée à la transition énergétique ouvre également de nouvelles opportunités à une industrie en profonde mutation.
