Abstract
S’il est admis de longue date que pour comprendre le comportement concurrentiel de la très petite entreprise (TPE), il faudrait s’intéresser à son dirigeant, l’étude de sa sphère cognitive n’a que peu mobilisé les concepts forgés en psychologie cognitive, dont l’objet est pourtant d’analyser la cognition des individus. Pour pallier ce manque, nous avons cherché à découvrir ce que l’approche de traitement de l’information, dominante en psychologie cognitive, pouvait apporter à la compréhension des fondements cognitifs du comportement concurrentiel du dirigeant de TPE. À cette fin, nous nous sommes entretenus avec vingt dirigeants de TPE du secteur des services traditionnels, sur leur manière de se représenter la concurrence et d’y faire face au quotidien. Les retranscriptions des récits des dirigeants ont donné lieu à une analyse de contenu menée sur la base d’un codage théorique. Il ressort de ce travail un rôle central du raisonnement des dirigeants de TPE du secteur des services traditionnels dans leur comportement concurrentiel. Cette recherche nous a permis de construire un mécanisme qui traduit le raisonnement implicite du dirigeant en matière de comportement concurrentiel.
