Este artigo é fruto de uma pesquisa de doutorado em educação que tem como tema central os pioneiros e as pioneiras da Educação Popular e a Universidade. O objetivo é apresentar uma reflexão em torno da presença da Educação Popular na história da universidade brasileira. É um estudo qualitativo-descritivo que se valeu de pesquisa bibliográfica e documental com abordagem crítica em torno da história da universidade no Brasil, seguida de reflexões sobre a Universidade popular ou o popular na universidade. E, por último, a discussão contemporânea dessa temática.
