Abstract
Pour rendre hommage à Jean-Louis Genard dans le cadre de ce dossier qui lui est consacré, j’ai choisi de revenir au premier livre qu’il a publié il y a un peu plus de trente ans, Sociologie de l’éthique (1992). Comme toute œuvre, celle de Jean-Louis est cumulative. Au cours des dernières décennies, il a déployé, consolidé, complété et enrichi les ficelles théoriques qu’il avait notamment développées dans ce livre où l’acteur social est pleinement considéré comme un sujet éthique en sa triple modalité de responsabilité, d’engagement et de réflexivité. On se limitera à rappeler le contexte et les principaux arguments de cette thèse et à montrer que les ficelles théoriques alors activées dans ce livre sont encore à l’œuvre dans ses derniers textes.
