La réalité dichotomique de la situation coloniale, ainsi que l’analyse Fanon, dichotomise également la catégorie de l’altérité. En contexte colonial, il y a l’Autre et l’autre, et entre les deux, une frontière à laquelle sont reliées des violences diverses. L’Autre constitue le pôle négatif de l’indésirable et l’autre, le pôle positif du désirable. En prenant comme cadre d’analyse la relation haïtiano-dominicaine, je montre que ce caractère dichotomique de l’altérité survit dans le monde post-colonial sous la forme pathologique d’une trichotomie altéritaire, en rendant impossible toute rencontre authentique entre sujets aliénés dominicains et haïtiens. Sous l’inspiration de Frantz Fanon, je fais dépendre la solution du problème d’abord d’une initiative d’autoabolition de soi de la part du sujet le plus « concerné », à savoir le sujet noir ou haïtien.
