Abstract

O objetivo do estudo foi definir um ponto de corte para sintomas de osteoartrite (OA) que pioram em mulheres idosas. Trata-se de um estudo transversal, com abordagem quantitativa e comparativa, em que os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevistas estruturadas, informando: idade, massa corporal, altura e preenchimento do questionário Western Ontario and McMaster Universities (WOMAC). Os dados obtidos foram subdivididos de acordo com o índice WOMAC geral (<39 e ≥39 pontos) e a classificação do índice de massa corporal (IMC) [Eutrófico (E); Sobrepeso (O) e Obeso (OB)] para comparações posteriores. Considerando a significância de p < 0,05. Foi utilizado o teste t, análise de variância (ANOVA-one way); Curva Roc e teste de Youden para robustez dos dados. Participaram do estudo 79 mulheres distribuídas em grupos de acordo com o IMC (E = 24; O = 28 e OB = 27 participantes) com as seguintes idades médias (E = 67,1 ± 6,4; O = 68,4 ± 5,8; OB = 68,5 ± 5,3 anos). Quando analisado pelo índice WOMAC, o subgrupo ≥ 3,9 apresentou IMC maior que o subgrupo WOMAC < 39 (p < 0,05). Além disso, quando realizada a robustez dos dados pelo teste de Youden, o ponto de corte foi de 29,78 kg/m². Portanto, o desenvolvimento de osteoartrite está positivamente associado ao IMC em idosos, e o ponto de corte detectado pelo teste de Youden pode ser um indicador relevante do risco aumentado de sofrer de osteoartrite.
