Nuorten kokeman yksinäisyyden tutkimus tarinateatterin menetelmin

Abstract
Tämä metodologinen artikkeli pureutuu kuudesluokkalaisten nuorten (n=16) yksinäisyyden kokemuksiin tarinateatterin keinoin. Tutkimuksellinen kiinnostus kohdistuu siihen, millaista tietoa tarinateatterin lähestymistavat nostavat esiin nuorten yksinäisyydestä ja miten tarinateatteri tutkimuskäytäntönä sopii yksinäisyyden tutkimukseen. Tutkimusaineisto koostuu koulussa toteutetun tarinateatteriesityksen videotallenteesta ja viidestä oppilaan kertomasta tarinasta. Tarinoiden analyysissä liikutaan holistisen taidepohjaisen tutkimusotteen viitekehyksessä (Leavy 2020). Videoaineistoa lähestytään tapaustutkimuksen näkökulmasta yhtenä esimerkkitapauksena tarinateatterista. Tutkimuksen tulosten perusteella tarinateatterin käytänteet nostivat esiin uudentyyppistä, vuorovaikutuksessa syntynyttä tietoa nuorten yksinäisyydestä. Vuorovaikutuksellisen, osallistumaan kutsuvan teatterin keinoin saatiin kokemuksia, jotka välittyivät kokonaisvaltaisesti kehon, liikkeen, äänen ja ilmeiden kautta. Tarinateatteri mahdollisti omien kokemusten peilaamisen toisten tarinoihin ja antoi tilaa tulla omaäänisesti kuulluksi. Samaistuminen kertojien tarinoihin sysäsi liikkeelle myönteisen sosiaalisen muutoksen kokemuksen, jossa osallistujien omat negatiiviset tunnemuistot muuttuivat vertaisten kesken jaetuiksi narratiivisiksi muistoiksi. Tutkimuskäytäntönä tarinateatteri rikasti ja avasi kielellistä ilmaisua täydentäviä väyliä hahmottaa ja päästä osalliseksi nuorten usein kätkettyyn yksinäisyyteen. The research data consist of a video recording of a playback theatre performance, including five stories told by the pupils. In analysing the stories, we work within the framework of a holistic art-based research approach (Leavy 2020). The results of the study showed how an art-based approach enables participants to compare their own experiences with the stories of others, and gives them space to be heard. Participating in the playback theatre performance set in motion an experience of social change, in which the participants’ negative emotional memories turned into narrative memories shared among peers. In addition, telling stories of loneliness created a multi-sensory and multi-emotional collective experience in which the participants were present, focused on listening, and empathized with the storyteller.
