Abstract
En el año 2010, un grupo de investigadores españoles publicó una nueva edición del manuscritoPeso de todo el mundo, escrito en 1622 por el diplomático y arbitrista inglés SirAnthony Sherley, residente en España y al servicio de la Monarquía Hispánica desde 1610.Dadas las dificultades para identificar la onomástica y la toponimia referidas al mundooriental, hemos procedido, en primer lugar, a realizar la identificación de (casi) todos esosnombres de personas y lugares referidos al espacio frecuentado por los europeos desde elOcéano Índico al Pacífico. Y, en segundo lugar, hemos tratado de valorar la calidad de lainformación en poder del citado personaje y su aportación a una mejor estrategia de la MonarquíaHispánica en los territorios asiáticos, hallando su discurso muy desigual, aunqueincluyendo algunas reflexiones y propuestas originales al tiempo que aventuradas.
