Les sociétés animales ont toujours fasciné. À la curiosité naturaliste pour ces fonctionnements autres, mais comparables, s’adjoignent des intentions variées se rapportant à nos propres sociétés humaines, aussi bien pour puiser dans leur organisation la légitimité naturelle d’un modèle économique, politique ou social à défendre, que pour chercher en elles l’inspiration pour inventer de nouvelles manières de faire ensemble, entre humains, mais aussi, de plus en plus, avec les autres vivants. Qu’elles nourrissent notre représentation du travail ou du pouvoir, qu’elles nous donnent des leçons de morale et d’éthique, ou que l’on interroge les formes d’intelligence par lesquelles elles agissent dans leur environnement et construisent leurs relations, les organisations collectives animales sont donc au cœur de constructions de sens cruciales, sur lesquelles différentes disciplines se penchent. La sémiotique, en tant que théorie des processus par lesquels nous sécrétons du sens, permet de mettre ces constructions signifiantes au cœur de notre étude et de faire dialoguer différentes disciplines qui la prennent en charge. Le colloque Existences collectives. Perspectives sémiotiques sur la sociabilité animale et humaine qui s’est tenu en octobre 2022 s’est donné cette visée, en poursuivant le cycle de zoosémiotique du Gasp8 qui a déjà donné lieu à deux colloques : « La parole aux animaux.
