Abstract
As demandas populacionais do processo de envelhecimento e da velhice, exigem soluções compatíveis para que todos possam envelhecer com qualidade e que os diversos recursos necessários para esse fim, sejam geridos de forma adequada. Uma dessas soluções é representada através do profissional bacharel em gerontologia. Nesse sentido, a pesquisa objetivou descrever o perfil de formação, áreas e características de atuação do bacharel em gerontologia no contexto brasileiro. Os resultados indicaram uma ampla atuação do gerontólogo em diferentes níveis de gestão de: serviços, projetos, equipes, entre outros, com maior prevalência na região sudeste do país. Conclui-se que a atuação do bacharel em gerontologia, devido a sua formação multidisciplinar, é importante para novas e adequadas alternativas frente aos desafios do envelhecimento populacional.
