Abstract
Résumé Pour mesurer l’importance de la laïcité quant à l’émancipation des femmes, l’étude se base sur le souvenir que les trois grandes religions monothéistes ont partie liée avec le patriarcat. Égale mais différente, la femme a le statut de seconde de l’homme. Il crée, elle procrée. Théologie et physiologie s’épaulent pour fonder la distinction des rôles et des fonctions. La loi de 1905, en opérant la distinction entre le privé et le public, le croyant et le citoyen, et en reconnaissant la liberté de conscience, porta un sérieux coup d’arrêt à l’imperium religieux. Les résultats de cette laïcisation des sociétés démocratiques sont considérables pour les femmes. Ce principe de la laïcité jugé obsolète par certains, reste la condition sine qua non de l’émancipation des filles.
