Abstract
L’article revient sur l’introduction de nouveaux instruments de contrôle et de gestion de la politique de développement agricole au début des années 1970. Ce tournant managérial n’est pas imposé de l’extérieur, il s’inscrit dans les luttes internes au champ des organisations professionnelles agricoles françaises et des administrations d’État spécifiques à ce secteur. Les nouvelles méthodes introduites dans le sillage de la politique de Rationalisation des choix budgétaires (RCB) participent à délégitimer l’ancienne conception du développement agricole qui liait la sélection des agriculteurs à la promotion des exploitations familiales, pour favoriser la parcellisation du travail de conseil agricole, la primauté accordées aux indicateurs de performance, la spécialisation et l’intensification des productions.
