Abstract
Résumé Cet article porte sur les discussions autour de la mise en place de l’association avec les territoires d’outre-mer (coopération au développement) telle que mise en place par la Communauté européenne en 1958. Nous tenterons de confronter la vision africaine de l’association et celle de la France, principale initiatrice de cette politique parmi les États membres. Nous verrons également que si l’association fut considérée par la France comme un moyen pour perpétuer sa « mission coloniale » en Afrique tropicale, elle devait au bout du compte permettre à l’Afrique de s’affranchir dans une certaine mesure de la tutelle française.
