La ciudad de Tunja representa uno de los puntos neurálgicos del departamento de Boyacá (Colombia), en materia de cultura, arquitectura, arqueología, historia, artesanía y máxime, en cuestiones religiosas. Además, figura como el eje geopolítico y económico, en cuanto a que en la ciudad y en sus alrededores confluye gran parte del desarrollo urbanístico y turístico del departamento. El objetivo fue realizar un análisis del estado de algunos elementos de la oferta turística del centro histórico de Tunja. Este se efectuó bajo la guía del modelo de competitividad de destinos “Calgary” propuesto por los teóricos Ritchie y Crouch. La investigación empleó el enfoque cualitativo, con una muestra por saturación de 37 participantes pertenecientes a los diferentes roles del sector turístico. Los resultados reflejan que existen elementos de la oferta turística que podrían aportar al desarrollo turístico de la ciudad en criterios de sostenibilidad y engranaje de los integrantes comprometidos en el encadenamiento de valor. Los datos recopilados representan un insumo para el esbozo de estrategias para afincar el desarrollo turístico local. Es apremiante potenciar la riqueza cultural, histórica y religiosa de la ciudad de Tunja, con un sentido de divulgación, preservación, conservación de los bienes culturales de índole material e inmaterial.
