Abstract
Résumé Dans "Capital et croissance", Hicks montre la nécessité d’abandonner l’ajustement instantané par l’équilibre temporaire à prix flexibles. A son tour la méthode de la Traverse montre que l’ajustement lui même dépends du sentier entamé par l’économie. Il est donc impossible de déterminer d’une manière préalable l’aboutissement du processus d’ajustement. Le problème réapparaît dans un contexte kaldorien où l’investissement est donné et où le taux d’épargne varie avec le changement dans la répartition du revenu. Contrairement à la théorie kaldorienne, au lieu d’un ajustement vers le plein emploi nous obtenons des capacités productives excédentaires. Les implications critiques de cette conclusion sont valables aussi pour la théorie classique de l’accumulation et de la croissance car elle constitue la base de l’approche kaldorienne.
