Abstract
This symposium aims to address the issues of the genetic determinations of the psychological characteristics of Internet users, discuss mechanisms associated with cognitive activity, and examine the prospects for application of meta-analysis in studying the impact of genetic factors on individuals' psychological characteristics.Scientists from Russia and Canada will make five presentations at the symposium.These reports will consider the effects of the polymorphism of various genes on the characteristics of social communication on the Internet and a possible association of genotypes with information processing efficiency and with patterns of emotional response.The role of various genetic markers in adapting to cyberspace and the relationship between individuals' psychological characteristics and their information behavior will be discussed.These studies investigate the influence of the polymorphism of the BDNF, HTR2A, GDNF, CHRNA4, DRD2, 5-HTTLPR, MAOA-uVNTR, OXTR, and COMT genes on the efficiency of perception of visual emotional information and the dynamics of the processes in the nervous system underlying these mechanisms.These are genes that are involved in neurochemical metabolism and their polymorphism can affect perception.Behavioral, electrophysiological, and neuroimaging results enabled the authors to establish the impacts of various combinations of mutations of the genes on the evaluation of the emotional valence of images, the speed and accuracy of categorization of faces, objects, and visual scenes, the dynamics of the involvement of brain structures in the processing of visual information in men and women.All the results expand our understanding of cognitive plasticity, provide insight into possible mechanisms for their transformation, determine the characteristics of the dynamics of nervous processes when perceiving Internet content, and establish the dependence of the efficiency of the categorization of visual images on the genotype.The findings and prospects for future studies in behavior genetics will be discussed with the participation of guests of the symposium. 5792Oxytocin receptor gene (OXTR), childhood trauma and personality differences in a women population
