Diagnósticos point-of-care: amplificación isotérmica mediada por asas como alternativa para la detección y prevención del síndrome urémico hemolítico

Abstract
El Síndrome Urémico Hemolítico (SUH) es una enfermedad que se caracteriza por un fracaso renal agudo (o crónico) que afectaprincipalmente a la población pediátrica. Su etiología es variable, aunque la más frecuente está asociada a la ingesta de alimentos contaminados con Escherichia coli productora de toxina Shiga. En Argentina, esta enfermedad representa un grave problema de salud pública debido a la tasa alta de ocurrencia y a la falta de un tratamiento específico; esto revela la importancia de la inmediatez y la eficiencia con que intervienen todos los agentes involucrados en la prevención primaria a fin de reducir el impacto sanitario. En este entramado se discute la aplicación de la técnica de Amplificación Isotérmica de ácidos nucleicos Mediada por Asas (LAMP, por sus siglas en inglés), cómo método de diagnóstico alternativo a la Reacción en Cadena de la Polimerasa (PCR, por sus siglas en inglés), hoy ampliamente utilizada en centros de referencia. Para el desarrollo de este trabajo se llevó a cabo una revisión bibliográfica para analizar el contraste PCR vs LAMP en el marco de los requisitos “ASSURED” de técnicas point-of-care adoptados por la Organización Mundial de la Salud. Con un inicial abordaje molecular, se resaltan características diagnósticas, tales como la universalidad de la aplicación, especificidad, sensibilidad de la técnica, las cuales postulan a la LAMP como una herramienta rápida, oportuna y confiable para la detección de una gran cantidad de patógenos bacterianos.
