Happy 10 Year Anniversary <i>Advanced Materials Interfaces</i>!

Abstract
This is the first issue in 2024 and Advanced Materials Interfaces celebrates its 10 year anniversary (Figure 1)! Since its launch as an independent journal in 2014, Advanced Materials Interfaces has established its role as an outlet for high-quality research on surface and interface science. Ten years later, the journal continues to provide a forum for interface-related research across different disciplines with a demonstrable potential for applications. Amongst the many topics we have published, well-cited topics include 2D materials, opto-electronic devices, biomaterials, nature-inspired surfaces, membranes, surface reactions, and energy storage materials. Note that we continue to support publication of fundamental as well as application-driven interface research. This year, Advanced Materials Interfaces has joined over 200 other high-impact Wiley journals which have transitioned to Open Access (see the full Wiley Open Access portfolio for a comprehensive list). As authors in this subject area embrace Open Access publishing, this conversion has allowed the journal to continue attracting the very best papers in the field, while both the journal and its authors continue to benefit from a number of advantages that Open Access confers. In the first place, everyone will now be able to read Advanced Materials Interfaces articles, irrespective of specialty, host institution, or location. In addition, we continue to see institutions and global funders creating Open Access policies and mandates for their authors, and many universities have entered into Transformational Agreements that automatically cover article processing charges; our conversion ensures that authors can continue to fulfil their funders' mandates and take advantage of these agreements (see the full Wiley Open Access funds). Advanced Materials Interfaces continued its position as an important journal in the area of interface-based research, with an Impact Factor of 5.4 (2022 Clarivate Journal Citation Reports); Table 1 shows a list of papers from 2020/2021 that contributed most to that success. These articles are handpicked by the editorial team of Advanced Materials Interfaces to showcase the very best content of the journal. Editors' Choice articles can be found in the Wiley Online Library in their own virtual section here, which will be updated regularly with outstanding new articles for you to read and share. (Figure 2) These articles represent the key topics that the journal publishes, including functional interfaces and surfaces and their specific applications, and they highlight work done by researchers from across the globe. Many articles have drawn additional attention via news and social media platforms, as reflected by their high Altmetric score. A selection of articles that had an exceptionally broad impact in the media in 2023 is shown in Table 2. In 2023, a special issue on “Next-Generation Organic Semiconductors” was published with guest editors Natalie Stingelin (Georgia Institute of Technology, USA), Oana D. Jurchescu (Wake Forest University, USA), Yutuka Wakayama (National Institute for Materials Science, Japan), and Emanuele Orgiu (National Institute of Scientific Research, Canada). In 2024, we will publish a special issue with all contributions written by our board members! Furthermore, we welcome Maarit Karppinen from Aalto University, Finland, as new member of the international advisory board. Don't forget to take a look at our Hall of Fame virtual issue, which is frequently updated with invited-only review articles from the top scientists in their fields, and the Biomaterials issue, where articles are collected on all topics of biomaterials, including hydrogels, tissue engineering, and drug delivery.
