Dès le début du conflit, les discours sur la guerre en Ukraine sont devenus une arène politique pour la diplomatie chinoise et pour le pouvoir discursif de Pékin dans le monde. En élaborant son discours officiel sur le conflit, Pékin a dû calibrer ses communications en fonction de différents facteurs externes et internes, et mobiliser les différentes stratégies pour les promouvoir. Certes lié à la Russie après de nombreuses années de rapprochement économique et politique avec Moscou, le gouvernement chinois se devait de définir une position. Comment le discours chinois a-t-il cherché à préserver son partenaire russe, sachant qu’il n’y a pas d’alliance formelle entre Moscou et Pékin et que les relations économiques entre la Chine et les Occidentaux sont plus fortes qu’avec la Russie ? Cet article analyse l’évolution de discours médiatique chinois en réalisant une étude qualitative des publications de deux journaux chinois, le Huanqiu Shibao et le Caixin Zhoukan, ainsi qu’en analysant les publications des internautes et des experts chinois sur le site de microblogage Weibo. L’analyse, basée sur une approche qualitative, permet de souligner l’évolution notable du discours officiel chinois sur la guerre en Ukraine depuis le début de l’invasion russe. Cette évolution reflète à la fois la détermination de Pékin de préserver sa neutralité afin de réduire l’impact de la crise sur ses propres ambitions géopolitiques et ses perspectives économiques, et le changement du contexte international entourant la guerre suite à son escalade dans l’espace et dans le temps.
