À partir des résultats d’une enquête par entretien au Québec portant sur les facteurs d’inclusion et d’exclusion des personnes LGBTQ+ dans différents domaines de leur vie, cet article traite d’un aspect encore peu exploité comme sujet d’étude, les blagues offensantes des collègues de travail. Celles-ci se sont révélées avoir une place conséquente dans la sociabilité au travail, mettant les personnes LGBTQ+ dans une position ambiguë : le registre de l’humour interrogeant la légitimité de mal réagir aux blagues offensantes. L’écart constaté entre l’intention des auteur·es de plaisanterie et les effets que celles-ci peuvent avoir sur les personnes LGBTQ+ donne lieu à trois types de réactions, allant du renversement de la blague à son avantage à une sorte de renoncement. Ces trois types de réactions exigent un travail émotionnel (Hochschild, 2003). Enfin, les femmes non hétérosexuelles se retrouvent piégées : l’acceptation de leur lesbianisme comme facteur d’intégration à l’entre-soi masculin se fait au prix d’une exclusion du groupe des femmes, les rendant complices de toutes formes de sexisme.
