Ce texte propose l'analyse de l'article 1134 du Code civil français « Les conventions légalement formées tiennent lieu de loi à ceux qui les ont faites » à l'aune de la période révolutionnaire et de certains de ses acteurs. Ainsi peut être questionnée la préférence du législateur de 1804 pour le mot ''convention'' plutôt que ''contrat'' selon une approche développée par l'historien Reinhart Koselleck ; et dans l'esprit des philosophies du droit et du politique de Miguel Abensour ; Boyan Manchev ; et de Laurent de Sutter. L’objectif étant de proposer comment rire des lois, du magistrat et des dieux en droit des contrats. Quelque chose comme un petit manuel juridique pour « anarchist/prostitute », qui « figures out the true meaning of contractual freedom. »
