Abstract
This article discusses the exhibition Migration Stories Whispered in My Ear/Me Susurran Al Oído Historias de Migrantes, shown at Western University’s McIntosh Gallery in London, Ontario, Canada, in 2022. The exhibition focused on Moysés Zuñiga Santiago’s photography, the curatorial work of Anahí González and the accompanying research of Dr. Sarah Bassnett. It explored how the mainstream media has influenced public perceptions of forced migration and showcased the work of a Mexican photographer who has travelled alongside undocumented migrants. The article discusses the curatorial choices used to create an immersive exhibition that counteracts mainstream portrayals of migration.
