La place de la culture en enseignement est un sujet dont l’intérêt va croissant depuis quelques années. En effet, de plus en plus de chercheurs se penchent sur les dispositifs culturels à exploiter en classe et sur la posture de médiateur d’éléments de culture des personnes enseignantes. Toutefois, nous n’avons recensé aucune recherche portant sur la place de la culture à la formation générale aux adultes, plus particulièrement en formation de base commune. Cet article fait donc état des résultats obtenus dans le cadre de notre essai portant sur la place de la culture dans les programmes et les manuels des élèves évoluant en formation de base commune. Nous avons analysé les programmes et les manuels remis aux élèves d'un centre de formation générale des adultes situé dans les Laurentides pour définir les conceptions culturelles qui s'y trouvent et la place qui est accordée à la culture.
