Abstract
Abstract This chapter concludes the book by considering the existing traces of 1980s London in the present day. The chapter reviews the arguments of the book and explores the legacy of 1984 to contemporary London, mapping the continuities and disjunctures between the two periods. The considers the impact of neoliberalism and gentrification upon the city, placing recent events such as the 2017 Grenfell tragedy in a wider historical context. In particular, the chapter discusses the persistence of inequality and the problems of democratic accountability.
