La pandémie et les trois confinements successifs qu’a connus la France durant les années 2020 – 2021 ont entraîné le développement du télétravail dans des proportions inédites, ainsi qu’une recrudescence des usages des dispositifs numériques pour pallier l’absence de co-présence. Nous nous demandons de quelles manières ce contexte de télétravail dit « contraint » a reconfiguré la communication entre collègues de même niveau hiérarchique. Est-ce que les dispositifs numériques se sont inscrits dans le prolongement des « espaces de discussions » nécessaires au soutien social entre pairs, à la transmission des règles du métier et à l’apprentissage collectif ? Nous répondons à ces questions à partir d’une enquête compréhensive auprès de 34 télétravailleurs et télétravailleuses. L’analyse des entretiens recueillis fait émerger un sentiment accru de solitude, de deshumanisation des relations professionnelles, ainsi que la banalisation de pratiques numériques problématiques. D’autres témoignages soulignent au contraire les effets positifs de la distance relationnelle (diminution des conflits, des perturbations, recentrage sur des relations affinitaires, etc.). Nous étudions les éléments de contexte qui peuvent expliquer ces perceptions contrastées.
