Abstract
This essay celebrates the 30th anniversary of the International Consortium for Educational Development (ICED), the parent organization of the International Journal of Academic Development (IJAD). To commemorate the anniversary of ICED, formed in 1993, IJAD co-editors invited a reflective dialogue with Dr. Kasturi Behari-Leak and Dr. Donna Ellis, who were serving as ICED President and President-Elect, respectively, in 2023. Dr. Behari-Leak and Dr. Ellis discuss their own positionalities in the Global South and North, as well as how they define academic and educational development in their respective contexts. The essay reflects on continuities and changes in the field, including an increasing emphasis on diversity, equity, inclusion, de-colonisation, and justice. They end with forecasting trends and areas of growth in academic and educational development.
