Abstract
A Canadian company, the Circus, was founded in 1984 and quickly expanded internationally, offering its shows on tour around the globe and recruiting artists from around the world. In March 2020, the COVID-19 crisis had a major impact on the Circus, forcing it to pause all these shows and placing it under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act of Canada. Only in the fall of 2021 will the Circus see the light of day again, reborn from its ashes, with more funding than before the crisis and a renewed management team. However, what happened to the Circus? Why did the curtain fall on the Circus? The lights go out on the stage of the Port of Montreal. The stage sentry is on, symbolising the artists’ imminent return. However, there is a sense of trepidation when it goes out on the stage of Alegria®, Kurios® and many other shows worldwide.
