Abstract
La presentación analiza fundamentalmente las intervenciones urbanístico-arquitectónicas llevadas a acabo en la Place Royale de la ciudad de Quebec, entre 1960-1980. Estas intervenciones, producto de una política cultural, tuvieron como objetivo construir la identidad quebequense a la manera en que la ideología dominante en ese momento concebía el relato sobre el origen de la comunidad. Este relato propuso una vuelta a las raíces francesas, absolutizando este componente y eliminando en gran medida la historia de mezclas que tuvieron lugar en Québec a partir de la dominación inglesa, a mediados del siglo XVII.
