L’expérience ordinaire chez Denis Côté : un renouveau philosophique

Abstract
Les films associés au renouveau du cinéma québécois sont fréquemment dépeints comme « peu songés », « mimétiques » et « esthétisants ». L’objectif du présent article est de contredire cette caractérisation réductrice par une étude de l’oeuvre de l’un de ses représentants, Denis Côté. Pour ce faire, à l’aune des écrits de Stanley Cavell et d’autres philosophes de l’expérience ordinaire, nous tâchons de montrer qu’une distinction s’impose entre l’ordinaire et le quotidien, qu’un vaste secteur du corpus filmique québécois délaisse l’ordinaire au profit du quotidien et que Carcasses, à la différence de ce secteur, a la vertu de donner à voir et à comprendre l’ordinaire. Cet intérêt pour l’ordinaire nous fera passer de l’individualité vers la communauté, de la relativité vers l’absolu, de la concrétude vers l’abstraction et de l’actualité vers la possibilité – possibilité dont nous verrons qu’elle possède deux faces bien distinctes chez Denis Côté, l’une indifférente au primat du Même ou de l’Autre (Meillassoux), l’autre tournée vers un devenir incessant (Nietzsche, Bergson, Deleuze).
