Abstract
La question des dialogues pour un cinéma qui vise une forme de révélation de la réalité peut constituer un point de divergence entre les réalisateurs, au regard des pratiques cinématographiques. Divergence que l’on peut retrouver entre le cinéma de Gilles Carle, considéré comme réalisateur de documentaires d’auteur, et les potentielles influences du néoréalisme italien sur celui-ci. Traitant de l’immigration avec Dimanche d’Amérique (1961), il existe un autre film, du genre néoréaliste, pouvant se placer en miroir de celui-ci. Il s’agit de Stromboli (1950) de Roberto Rossellini. La manière d’enregistrer les dialogues, en postsynchronisation, peut paraître opposée à un cinéma qui se veut néo-réaliste et souhaite notamment laisser place à l’intervention du réel en sortant des studios. Le film de Gilles Carle, essentiellement tourné en son direct, s’il a pu être inspiré par les films néoréalistes, dont Stromboli de Roberto Rossellini, permet de penser la présence de la réalité au travers de dialogues enregistrés en direct ou postsynchronisés. Le présent article souhaite ainsi exposer cette réflexion au travers d’une analyse comparative, technique et esthétique, de ces deux films, afin d’en extraire les liens sur la mise en scène de la parole au cinéma.
