Abstract
Dans cet article, je me propose d’analyser la circulation des images du genre dans le contexte de la Ballroom scene parisienne, une communauté LGBT d’apparition récente sur le territoire français, mais s’inscrivant dans une longue histoire de lutte et d’affirmation de soi commencée outre-Atlantique dès les années 1960. Pour mieux saisir la diversité du genre exprimée dans ce contexte de performance dansée, je m’appuierai sur ma participation observante à une dizaine de manifestations, d’entretiens informels avec plusieurs membres de la communauté, ainsi que la prise en compte des matériaux tels que les publications et les vidéos sur Instagram, YouTube, etc., complétées par l’analyse de films et travaux écrits sur le sujet. Je montrerai que les membres de la communauté Ballroom se construisent à travers un parcours passant d’un état de labilité du genre, ou d’instabilité, à son affirmation structurée et flamboyante.
