Abstract
Les changements climatiques posent un risque pour le système financier dans son ensemble et, par conséquent, pour la stabilité financière du Canada. Parallèlement, les investissements risqués des institutions financières alimentent la crise climatique. Ce texte explore cette double matérialité dans le contexte canadien et identifie les lacunes actuelles du système financier canadien en matière de finance durable. Le projet de loi S-243, Loi sur la finance alignée sur le climat, introduit au Sénat du Canada en 2022 par l’honorable Rosa Galvez, offre un cadre législatif pour aligner les activités des institutions financières fédérales sur les engagements climatiques du Canada et combler les lacunes du système financier canadien.
