Abstract
Partial differential equations are derived to describe longitudinal and transverse elastic oscillations of a space tether inclined to the local vertical. Such configurations might occur during towing of space debris. The equations are then solved analytically. It is noted that the inclination angle has significant effects on the frequencies associated with both longitudinal and transverse oscillations.
