Abstract
O trabalho tem como lócus de investigação a Amazônia Legal, e enfatiza a urgência da cooperação institucional entre os países da Pan-Amazônia no enfrentamento à problemática da segurança da região, em particular o avanço do narcotráfico. A abordagem metodológica combina análise documental e levantamento in loco de dados qualitativos, a partir de trabalho de campo realizado em municípios do Pará e de Roraima. Os resultados apontam aumento dos níveis de integração entre redes ilegais, destacando interconexões entre o narcotráfico e o garimpo ilegal. Evidencia-se, assim, um processo de interiorização das facções criminosas na Amazônia brasileira, situando as disputas em torno do controle das principais rotas de narcotráfico e das áreas de garimpo ilegal em terras indígenas. O cenário é de agravamento da violência e da criminalidade na região, com a presença cada vez mais forte de facções criminosas, que articulam ações dentro do território brasileiro a partir das fronteiras.
