Abstract
Dans cet article nous explorons le rôle joué par Antonio de Capmany y de Montpalau – un représentant de la périphérie catalane –, entre la fin du XVIIIe siècle et le début du XIXe siècle, dans la formulation d’une idée de la nation espagnole et par conséquent d’une vision de l’identité nationale espagnole. Son approche se situe entre le conservatisme traditionaliste et le libéralisme constitutionnel qui caractérise certains secteurs des cercles « ilustrados » ainsi que les groupes ouvertement démocrates.
