Abstract
Il n’existe aujourd’hui aucun musée relatif à l’avocature en France, pas plus que de Musée de la Justice. Le Musée du Barreau qui appartient à l’Ordre des Avocats à la Cour d’appel de Paris est, à ce titre, une institution unique. Il a pour mission la transmission et la valorisation de l’histoire des avocats. Héritiers des avocats du Parlement de Paris, les avocats parisiens ont constitué un patrimoine important, constitué de livres, d’objets d’art, de peintures, sculptures, gravures, médailles, manuscrits…, enrichi au fil des siècles. Ses collections privées, comportant plus de 12 000 œuvres et livres, concernent l’histoire des avocats et, plus généralement celle de la Justice. Voici un aperçu du Musée du Barreau de Paris, de ses origines à nos jours.
